Blog Post: Membership In Your Professional Association Can Help Your Career

Are you a operations or supply chain management professional who is unemployed, under-employed, or in career transition? Or, maybe you’re concerned about your status with your current employer? Has your job search or career change slowed to a crawl, or maybe it never successfully started? Well, being a member of the professional association for Operations Management can help!
Many employment experts agree that identifying specific companies you want to work for and connecting with "insiders" who can introduce you to "decisions makers" is an effective job search technique. As a reminder, "insiders" are people who already work for companies you want to work for and "decision makers" are people who work for companies you want to work for who can hire you. Since both insiders and decision makers are involved in professional associations, do you think there may be someone involved from several employers on your target company list? Do you think getting involved will provide you an opportunity to connect and build relationships with these people?
