Blog Post: APICS Florida West Coast Chapter Launches Job Search Work Team
posted Sunday, September 20, 2009 8:15 AM
Based on a method scientifically proven to speed the search, Job Search Work Teams (JSWT) are ongoing groups of 6 to 12 people who meet weekly to work on their job searches together. If you are an Operations or Supply Chain Management professional, you can participate in the APICS Job Search Work Team. The APICS Florida West Coast Chapter (http://www.APICS-FLWRC.org) JSWT program begins with an orientation meeting on Tuesday, September 22 nd , 2009. The JSWT will function as an:
- advisory panel that knows you and your search and can provide good answers to the questions that come up in job hunting. - opportunity for job hunters to share information and information sources, so everyone gets smarter about the job market.
The team will follow the "Pierson Method" of job search developed by Orville Pierson, Director of Program Design, Lee Hecht Harrison, in his "Highly Effective Job Search" and "Highly Effective Networking” books. The team facilitator will be Ed Stohr, Career Services Manager for the Florida West Coast Chapter of APICS. According to Pierson, the Job Search Work Team is not a therapy group, training session, or support group of the kind often used with job seekers. Instead it is a: - group of people committed to helping each other in job search by keeping each other focused on key tasks and accountable for getting them done. - way to make the sometimes difficult job of job hunting easier and more pleasant. - core network for its members. - project management team.
Starting September 22, 2009 the APICS Job Search Work Team will meet from 1:30 to 3:30 each Tuesday at the Jobing Tampa Office, located on the second floor at 5301 West Cypress Street, Tampa, FL 33607. The APICS Job Search Work Team will be limited to twelve operations and supply chain professionals however new members will be admitted as current members find jobs. Participation in the JSWT is free and you do not need to be an APICS member. However, registration is required. To register for the APICS Job Search Work Team contact Ed Stohr, Career Services Manager, APICS Florida West Coast Chapter, at EdStohr@Gmail.com, or (813) 810-2991.
