The National Association of African Americans in Human Resources is a national organization concerned with improving the professional development of African American Human Resources professionals, consultants, and students. The focus of the organization is to serve as a network, resource, and forum for African American Human Resource professionals. The Tampa Bay Chapter was chartered in September 2000 and is comprised of Human Resources professionals in both Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. Press Release LEADERS ELECTED FOR LOCAL HR ORGANIZATION (Tampa, FL) December 18, 2006 – The local chapter of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources has elected new officers for 2007. This group includes professionals from leading local employers and several local business owners. “NAAAHR has provided me with opportunities for networking and professional development that I can’t get anywhere else,” said [Sheila Christy-Martin]. “That’s why I want to give back and help others be successful.” she continued. The local officers are: President - Dr. Sheila Christy-Martin, PHR Directors-at-Large NAAAHR Tampa Bay is an organization open to any Human Resources professional, line manager, consultant or student working or studying in the field of Human Resources and affiliate disciplines. Many of NAAAHR Tampa Bay’s members are also members of other Human Resource organizations, but find that NAAAHR Tampa Bay is a value-added resource for professional and personal development.
