Cytogenetics Product Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY: This position works under the direction of the assigned Product Manager in support of product development activities. Assists with the research and documentation of product requirements, development of product technical documentation, development and implementation of product test plans, internal and client training programs, support of alpha and beta product releases. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide domain expertise for enhancing existing products and developing new products. Creates Use Cases and functional/nonfunctional requirements documents for the purpose of initiating programming to enhance client requirements. Research industry standards and access current needs in order to remain competitive and to ensure basic product functionality.Provides for the initial analysis for alpha product validation to ensure the product meets the basis product functionality. Facilitates product knowledge transfer to Implementation, Client Support and Sales & Marketing staff via documentation and training. Responsible for training beta clients, monitoring beta testing process, supporting clients through the beta testing phase and go-live process. Documents all comments and issues and provide detail analyzes of beta product validation. Complies with all company SOPs as they apply to the department. Provides counsel to overseas offices regarding development and validation of product as well as shadowing to offsite facilities. Responsible for providing Technical Writers with up to date information for inclusion in technical documentation. Reviews all technical documentation prior to general release. Responsible for analyzing and processing support tasks according to Product Change Control (PCC) procedures. Perform hazard analysis according to FMEA. Responsible for monitoring project plans to ensure timely release of product in order to meet client deadlines. Responsible for monitoring and system testing of client database in order to maintain integrity of the product. Complies with all approved procedures, directives and guidelines. Skills / Requirements
Experience Required:
Experience as a Medical Technologist, Laboratory or Research technician with experience in genetic testing will be considered. Broad experience and understanding of the applicable healthcare discipline is highly desirable. The person in this position must have experience in usability testing and works with multiple software applications. Flow Cytometry experience would be considered. Important Notes
Education Required:
Bachelors of Science or Bachelors of Administration degree in the related field is preferred, but relevant experience may be substituted for the degree. Certification NCA as a Cytogenetics/Molecular with 2-3 years experience in genetics testing such as DNA extraction, FISH and PCR is preferred.
