Jobing Description
The Director of Product Management will be the unifying force behind hsn.com's site experience strategy and execution, combining feedback from merchandising, marketing, technology, content, and most importantly the customer to set the strategic vision and lead the execution on new features and products. This is an important and strategic role within the company, and our expectations are equally high. The Director of Product Management will gather and prioritize product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and evangelizing that vision within the leadership team in order to secure organizational support and the resources required to deliver on the that strategy.

Responsibilities include:
· Partners with senior management and stakeholders to develop a product portfolio, define product strategies and create product roadmaps that will enable the Company to achieve their annual business objectives.
· Closely monitors market and customer needs and technology trends and works within a cross-functional environment to translate into existing product enhancements and new product introductions.
· Govern the entire product lifecycle of the overall product portfolio from requirements definition to product delivery and beyond.
· Leverage broad functional expertise and technical knowledge to develop a product portfolio which is coordinated and optimized across product lines and customers.
· Balances scope of projects against one another to determine how to make the most efficient use of resources to create the greatest level of value for the company.
· Serves as a voice of the customer and acts as a customer experience advocate in considering product decisions that will impact the customer.
· Develops clear and complete business cases and business requirements and presents to senior management the information necessary to make informed approval, prioritization and tradeoff decisions.
· Champions a point-of-view to senior leadership regarding the relative importance of various initiatives that are ready to move to the development phase.
· Ensures all relevant parties and key stakeholders are informed of product status from concept through launch.
· Develop and maintain a model for tracking the effectiveness of new features and site trends. Perform ongoing, detailed analysis and making recommendations for enhancements based on these analyses.
· Communicates key product metrics to senior leadership team
· Structures and manages relationships with third party content and technology partners.
· Lead brainstorms, generate ideas, and create an environment of active collaboration where all groups (including content, merchandising, production, technology, operations, and finance) are empowered participants in the product development process.
· Coaches team members as they respond to project escalations with an assessment of the business implications of changes to project scope, timeline, or resources.
· Creates and fosters career development and growth paths for team members in alignment with company, product and personal objectives
· Provides team with clear and measurable goals and objectives
· Lead, manage and grow the existing team, shepherding them through the process of
· Gathering detailed business requirements
· Develop strategy and write the business plan
· Champion the idea across the company. Get buy-in and create excitement
· Present and gain Senior Management approval on strategy/plan
· Write detailed functional specs
· Develop Visio wire-frames
· Develop user-testing materials and manage multiple rounds of user testing (internal and external users)
· During development, negotiate scope and proactively address problems
· Work closely with Technology/QA to insure smooth feature rollout


Skills / Requirements

· Minimum 5 years web experience
· Must have written specs and been the project lead for complex web applications or system integrations.
· Expert understanding of e-commerce best practices and experience/technology trends
· Expert at UI design, wire framing, and managing user testing.
· Experience with agile development processes and monthly or weekly product release cycles
· Expert at project planning.
· Expert at data analysis.
· Good understanding of database design and information architecture.

Education:
· An undergraduate degree is required. An MBA would be preferred.
