This position coordinates the development and implementation of a nutritionally sound food service program that is in compliance with USDA/CCFP procedures for all children in the Head Start/Early Head Start Program. -Plan menus in order to provide nutritious meals in conjunction with registered dietitian. -Train food service personnel to maintain qualified staff. -Purchase all food and food service supplies to provide quality food for the children. -Oversee the completion of USDA paperwork to maintain funding. -Oversee the compliance of all local, state, and national food service rules and regulations to maintain a safe and sanitary environment. -Act as a consultant to supervise the food service staff in collaboration with Center Supervisors. -Attend local, state, regional, and national conferences to maintain currency on best practices and laws. -Coordinate deliveries of food and food service supplies from the warehouse. -Compose and implement MBO’s and work plans. -Conduct regular visits to the centers to ensure proper food service techniques and regulatory procedures are being used. -Provide nutrition education to staff, children and families for compliance with performance standards and CCFP. -Prepare and monitor all food service bids to maintain compliance with federal regulations. -Refer all children with nutritional problems to WIC. -Confer with parents about the nutritional status of their children. -Coordinate payments of food bills and USDA reimbursements with finance department. -Coordinate catered meal service. -Train staff at catered sites -Negotiate contracts for catering, food purchases, etc. -Monitor all aspects of food service including catering. -Attend various conferences, trainings, and workshops as assigned by management -Perform other related duties as assigned by management Skills / Requirements
****Minimum Qualifications:****
MUST have at least a two year college degree in Nutrition, Home Economics, or a related field. Two (2) years experience managing a USDA food program or managing a school food service program, two (2) years experience in large quantity food preparation techniques and two (2) years supervisory experience in a school setting or institutional food service setting. As to knowledge, skills, abilities, and other attributes: -Knowledge of supervisory techniques and approaches. -Knowledge of food service techniques and approaches. -Knowledge of food service programs that are available. -Knowledge of USDA Child Care Food Programs (CCFP) -Knowledge of License Board Standards. -Knowledge of teaching strategies and techniques for parents, children, and staff. -Ability to work with low-income families, children, and staff in a positive manner. -Ability to project budgetary needs. -Ability to forecast and procure food service suppliers. -Ability to write grant for continued USDA funding. -Possession of a valid State of Florida Driver's License. -Prior to contract commencement must obtain a physical examination including a TB Test.
