Jobing Description
Position Summary: Call center environment handling inbound and outbound calls collecting on multiple product lines. Able to handle multiple tasks, can handle difficult situations, work all related accounts, advanced knowledge for skip tracing techniques, able to make sound decisions and recommends when accounts are ready for repossession and or charge off.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Working knowledge of the fair debt collection practices act.
  • Responsible for controlling delinquency and loan loss on assigned portfolio.
  • Recommend accounts for repossession, foreclosure, closure of credit lines, charge-off or litigation.
  • Perform extensive skip tracing techniques.
  • Maintain professional demeanor while handling difficult situations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills; communicate a sense of urgency to resolve the delinquency.
  • Adhere to departmental due diligence guidelines.
  • Make outbound and receive inbound phone calls on delinquent accounts based on department needs.
  • Collect on multiple products simultaneously.
  • Recommend accounts for alternative solutions when appropriate.
  • Send appropriate collection letters when needed.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple job tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including PC, multi-line phone, etc.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Provide leadership within the department and act as a mentor to other collectors.
  • Support internal customers as needed.
  • Ability to maintain relationships with external vendors.
  • Must demonstrate a functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to: U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.

  • Skills / Requirements
    Qualifications: The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    Education: Job related course work after high school.
    Previous Experience Needed: 3-5 year's related experience/training, or equivalent education or experience.

    Position Requirements: Multi task oriented with excellent people skills and ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment.

    Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in small group situations to members and other employees of the organization.

    Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interest.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out single one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional variables.

    Problem Solving: Work consists of a variety of duties requiring the use of different standard systems and procedures. Analysis is required in applying guidelines and precedents. Problems can be unique and require the collection and interpretation of information.

    Effect of Decisions: Decisions typically can affect the work of the other employees who may be doing similar or dissimilar work, but decisions typically do not affect the entire department.

    Computer Skills: A good working knowledge of MS Office Suite including Word and Excel as well as web based products.
