At Suncoast Hospice, the Senior Staff Nurse is responsible for identifying and coordinating patient/family needs and for providing preventive and supportive care to terminally ill patient/family unit. While utilizing assessment, intervention and teaching skills to maximize patient comfort and to enhance the quality of life to the patient/family unit; the Senior Staff Nurse is an active, formal mentor and preceptor to new staff on the team, providing teaching, support and guidance. They also provide support and leadership in coordinating all team functions in support of the PFCC, including Total Quality Management, supervisory visits and other activities as appropriate.

Hours: 7:00am - 3:00pm.

1. Current Florida License as a Registered Nurse; BSN desirable.
2. Minimum of three (3) years nursing experience; with at least one (1) year acute care setting.
3. Minimum of two (2) years Hospice experience.
4. Minimum of two (2) years experience supervising a nursing team comprised of 6 or more clinicians.
5. Oncology or Home Health nursing experience preferable.
6. IV training.
7. Willingness to attend the preceptor training workshop.
8. Must have reliable transportation which will enable them to perform tasks and responsibilities in a timely and appropriate fashion. Must be able to provide proof of automobile insurance, a copy of which will be placed in their employee file.
