PEMHS is currently seeking foster parents who are needed to provide a safe, stable, and nurturing home for emotionally needy children who have been removed from their own home due to abuse and neglect. Foster parents are licensed through the Department of Children and Families and contracted through PEMHS to provide foster care. Duties/Responsibilities: Foster parents ensure that they provide basic needs and emotional support to the children who are placed in their home. They also provide transportation to school, appointments, etc, and act as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team. Foster parents work with an in-home therapist on developing a treatment plan and assisting the child in meeting his/her treatment goals. Skills / Requirements
Qualifications:
Applicants must reside within Pinellas or Pasco county, must have stable housing, adequate existing income, complete and pass background screenings, and complete 30 hours of pre-service training. Parents must also have a valid driver's license and a dependable vehicle for transporting children. Foster parents must be able to exercise patience, flexibility, provide a structured home environment, and be willing to learn and utilize alternative parenting skills. Important Notes
Foster parents are paid an average board rate of $1,037 per month per child. Foster children's medical insurance and clothing allowances are provided through the state.
