Direct care positions consist of three main positions:
Program Technician This is an entry level position for individuals with no experience or up to less than 3 years of experience working in a youth residential program environment. Prior residential experience adds to the salary minimum. Lead Program Technician This is the next step in the Direct Care career ladder. This position is for those candidates that have at least two years' of experience working with youth in a residential setting or have a post-high school degree. Individuals that are hired as Program Technicians and have demonstrated characteristics of theLead Program Technician position may apply for a promotion to Lead Program Technician after six months' of employment. Salary is based on residential experience and education. Shift Manager This position supervises the Program Technician and Lead Program Technician positions. Prior youth residential and supervision experience are required. Salary is based on residential and supervision experience and education. All three levels of direct care positions provide the following: Provide safety and security to the facility through proper youth supervision. Ensure that the facility behavior management system is enforced in a consistent and fair manner. Complete observation checks and provides role model behavior to assist youth with problem solving and competency development. •Maintains proper youth supervision through line of sight and completion of youth accountabilities. •Completes room searches and common area searches in accordance to policy. •Complies with documentation of youth incidents and progress via facility log books and chronological sheets. •Ensures that the Protective Action Response Matrix is utilized when required and the least restrictive interventions are implemented. •Provides feedback and counseling to youth regarding Social Skills, Behavior, Anger Management and Self-Esteem. •Ensures that Communication is maintained between fellow staff and supervisors. •Ensures proper movement and supervision of youth. •Acts as a member of the Facility Treatment Team assisting youth with improving accountability and competency development as defined by the youth’s performance plan. •Participates in maintaining the therapeutic milieu on the unit, enforces the level system or other methods of behavior management. •Assists with orienting new residents to unit, program, and milieu. •Assists residents in carrying out activities of daily living, when congruent with the residents’ performance plan and needs, age, and developmental level. •Assist with medication pass as required Skills / Requirements
Must be at least 21 years of age and be a High School Graduate or must have a G.E.D. At least 6 months of experience working with youth is preferred. Must have a passion to work with, and change the life of youth.
