Jobing Description
Performs routine laboratory tasks related to processing whole blood and blood components

CTL LAB PROCESS
  • Receive patient samples and determine suitability.
  • Centrifuge whole blood for component prep.
  • Pool Platelets, cryoprecipate and plasma for patient needs.
  • Prepare and Issue Fresh Frozen Plasma, Cryo Poor Plasma, and Recovered Plasma.
  • Prepare and Issue Pedi-Plasma, Pedi-cells, Kiddi-packs.
  • Prepare and issue Platelets, platelet pheresis.
  • Divide Components and issue as needed.
  • Volume Reduction of platelets, and thaw frozen components.
  • Disposal of all lab components
  • Final disposition of all lab components
  • Issue Blood and Blood Components for patient needs
  • Distribution of blood components and derivatives
  • Prepare patient files
  • Return unused Blood and Blood Components, assist in determining the suitability of the returns.
  • Perform Component Inventory recall and Inventory Lookback.
  • Track Cooler Issues and Return within set Guidelines.
  • Maintain Proper storage of blood and blood components
  • Handling of Biohazard waste
  • Maintain and prepare laboratory records

    • Skills / Requirements
    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Basic computer keyboard knowledge preferred.
  • Must be able to perform accurate detailed oriented work and discriminate numbers.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Read, write and speak English effectively, follow complex oral or written instructions.
