Job Description

Position Summary: The Accounts Receivable Supervisor leads a team of AR specialists, Billers and Self-pay Collectors.

Minimum Qualifications: At least two years of experience in a supervisory role, working in a healthcare setting with extensive knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance billing and collection processes.  Experience managing an abundant aging report with a large numbers of payers. Must have computer skills/High School Diploma/GED.

Preferred Qualification: Bachelor's Degree or Billing & coding Degree/certification. Accounts Receivable experience in a behavioral health care setting with knowledge of both inpatient and outpatient billing and collections.

Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong supervisory, oral, and written communication skills a must. Knowledge with myAvatar preferred. Experience with Navicure/Waystar clearinghouse a plus.

Essential Functions/Job Duties: 

  • Set goals for accounts receivable team and develops strategies to meet them.

  • Review aging reports on a weekly basis; provide ongoing performance coaching and training.

  • Analyze distribution of payer assignments and adjust when appropriate.

  • Review payments to ensure insurance companies are paying within the limitations of our agreed upon contracts.

  • Analyze account metrics and trends to foresee any potential issues.

  • Ensure billing issues are communicated clearly with a plan of action to resolve.

  • Keep revenue at a constant flow by ensuring that all claims are billed out in a timely manner.

  • Work closely and communicate regularly with surrounding departments, which influence revenue.

  • Develop strategies and ideas to enhance self-pay collections.

  • Keep aging reports accurate, ensuring credits and refunds are completed as appropriate

Work Environment/Physical Demands:  Works in well-lighted areas.  Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during work hours.  Is subject to frequent interruptions.  Is involved with clients, residents, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., in a behavioral health setting.

Position Type, Expected Hours of Work and Travel:  This is a full-time 40 hour per week non-exempt position.  This position typically works Monday thru Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Some flexibility in hours is required.
