Job Description

The HR Generalist (Staff Performance & Development) will coordinate the access to and delivery of training programs and curriculum aligned with organizational and HR goals across a broad range of subject matter. Includes HR programs and policy, leadership and staff skills development, company compliance (HIPAA, CPR, IT Security, etc.), role-based learning, client services learning, and job-based training for the agency. Supports the training and development goals of the organization. Partners with key members of the organization to deliver efficient, effective, and exceptional onboarding process, improve employee experience, and implement learning and development programs.

Responsibilities are at a professional level that encompass the execution of HR strategies and initiatives as well as day-to-day transactions. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing support in multiple functional areas of HR, with a strong focus on staff performance and development. Acts as HR Business Partner to help leaders with data-driven recommendations that improve employee performance, development, retention, and experience.

Reports directly to the HR Director and works closely with the Learning and Org Development Leaders to help implement HR strategies that foster the organization and people development. The HR Generalist coordinates initiatives that support talent, performance, change management, succession planning, and employee retention. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and technical skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Development and Leadership, HR Development, Technical Education, Business or Adult Education preferred.

  • Three to five (3-5) years' experience in human resources or related field.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management skills, and organization skills.

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite programs required (MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

  • Experience working with executive leaders and delivering programs to all levels (Executive, Management, Mid-Level managers, Front line employees).

  • Ability to prepare high quality documents for presentations (Word, PPT, Email Communications, Publisher), and must have effective presentation and project management skills.

  • Experience with supporting eLearning/virtual training using software such as ZOOM, WebEx, Go-To Meeting, Skype (Intermediate level).

  • Experience with using Learning Management Systems (LMS) to schedule and track training (Intermediate level).

  • Strong business acumen and ability to work well across different functions.

  • Must be comfortable working in high-volume and fast-paced environment.

  • Willing to work flexible hours as needed to support operations and participate in Enterprise projects.

  • Must be able and willing to travel (day and/or overnight travel) as needed (Up to 15%) - and drive between offices in Bradenton, Sarasota, and Ft. Myers as needed.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 3 -5 years' in an HR Generalist and/or Training & Development role, preferably in a healthcare environment: develop presentations, coordinating seminars/workshops (in person and virtual), working with facilitators and vendors.

  • Professional Certification in HR (PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) and/or Training and Development professionals (ATD Certified Professional in Learning and Performance - CPLP).  ATD's Associate Professional Talent Development (APTD) credential. The International Society for Performance Improvement's (ISPI): Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) for professionals focused specifically in performance improvement. Certification as First Aid and CPR trainer by American Heart Association.

  • Experience and proficiency in HRIS

  • Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: High level of attention to detail; professionalism, accuracy, and timeliness in all transactional activities - especially email communications. Ability to gather data, develop reports, identify trends and make recommendations based on metrics. Ability to adapt to change and manage priorities well in a fast-paced environment. Ability to demonstrate a high level of confidentiality. Work independently and actively as a member of both Operations and HR teams. Ability to build rapport with all staff levels as required.

    Essential Functions/Duties:

    Training/Leadership Development

  • Works closely with the Enterprise Leaders providing strategic direction to Learning, Org Development and Compliance training to contribute to program development, participate in projects, and stay informed of new initiatives.  Provides required reports. Communicate with HR business partners and managers regarding leadership development initiatives.

  • Ensures enrollment is properly captured for tracking, reporting and auditing, as well as that class preparation logistics are carried out accordingly. Establishes, monitors, administers course enrollment, activities and process, as well as course evaluations. (Utilizing LMS: Relias)

  • Provides employees at all levels with comprehensive customer service related to all employee training. Ensures compliance.

  • Maintains accurate records related to staff development; assists with audits; processes correspondence related to employee benefits; researches staff training problems to resolve issues and recommend solutions.

  • Works with Relias technical advisors to ensure accurate management and reporting of data related to training and to resolve any training related issues.

  • Advises leaders and employees about on-the-job and formal training opportunities to develop new skills and prepare for advancement. Determine developmental/promotional opportunities and helps to create development plans.

  • Tracks and analyzes training data for overall employee development programs. Communicate ideas and process improvements regarding learning and development.

  • Prepares reports and presents relevant information at Quarterly PEPEC meetings.

  • Coordinates relationship with CE Broker ensuring course accuracy before classes are offered and facilitating data entry into the system so continuing credit units are awarded accurately for licensing requirements.

  • Collaborates with subject matter experts in the development and customization of training materials, presentations and program communications. Researches and identifies external programs and courses as may be needed to meet development needs for programs that are determined not to be developed or delivered internally.

  • Partner with facilitators during live virtual training sessions-conduct interactions, monitor participant engagement, co-lead breakout groups, and utilize other virtual training tools.

    Performance Management

  • Manages Performance appraisal process. As requested by HR Director, provide coaching and support to supervisors as requested to address employee performance issues.

  • Report and assist in analyzing training and development data to assist in reporting performance and business impact as well as training needs.

Retention Initiatives

  • Coordinates and conducts Onboarding Training (1st Day) and monthly Organization Orientation - makes recommendations for improvements and develops improved programs.

  • Responsible for the Exit Survey/Interview process to include monthly reports for Leaders.

  • Assists in analyzing turnover to develop, recommend and implement strategies to improve employee retention.

  • Assists the Executive Leaders, Managers, and HR Director in implementing retention strategies based on Employee Engagement Survey and other data.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Type, Expected Hours of Work and Travel: This is a full-time position non-exempt 40 hour per week position.  Typical work hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday.  Flexible scheduling will be required occasionally to meet operational needs. Must be willing to travel between offices and occasionally out of town as needed.
