Job Description

Delivers quality direct resident care under appropriate clinical supervision to adolescents (typically age 12 to 18) with psychiatric or emotional disorders. Serves actively and constructively as a member of the organizations multidisciplinary treatment team and supports the organizations and adolescent programs philosophy of care.

Skill / Requirements

Administers resident medications as prescribed by physician. Assists dietary staff in identifying residents on special diets and assuring residents compliance with dietary orders. Completes nursing assessments upon admission. Updates treatment care plans. Participates in treatment planning: (a) helps identify residents problems, needs and strengths; (b) suggests modifications to treatment plan based on observations of residents behavior; (c) providing input into discharge planning. Participates in implementing residents treatment plans by: (a) monitoring residents progress; (b) communicating information regarding residents behavior to other members of treatment team; (c) maintains communication with resident, family members in residents interest; (d) co-facilitates didactic, educational, and community groups within the context of the adolescent treatment program; (e) encourages and facilitates residents participation in therapeutic activities; (f) supervises residents to ensure their safety and their involvement in treatment; (g) provides input during shift report. Participates in maintaining the therapeutic milieu on the unit, enforces the level system or other methods of behavior management. Maintains resident, program, department and related documentation. Carries out general nursing necessary to treatment of adolescent residents. Maintains a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for residents. Assists residents in carrying out activities of daily living, when congruent with the residents treatment plan and needs, age, and developmental level. Carries out clerical and administrative assignments to support resident care and department and organization operations. Participates in developing professional knowledge and skills. Supports the organizations favorable public image. Complies with applicable standards of conduct and regulations governing delivery of services. Maintains attendance and punctuality.
